Theme: The Relevant Church
Topic: Growing In The Knowledge of Christ
But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.
It is disadvantageous for a church which seeks to be relevant, to grow in some areas and not in others. The ideal way to grow is to do so together in every aspect of life. A brief look at some key areas of Church growth will help us build relevant churches. Today we will look at "Growth In the Knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The Church is required to increase in the Knowledge of Christ. This is the first area of growth we should seek to attain. A believer who wants to bask in glory, must do so only in the fact that he or she knows the Lord and is increasing in that knowledge. We are not to glory in material and fleshly things (Jeremiah 9:23-24). The main purpose of the Holy Ghost on earth is to testify about Jesus Christ. As He testifies about Jesus Christ to us, we are to also bear witness of Him to the world (John 15:26-27).
The Church talks too little about Jesus Christ today. We mention His name just to punctuate our prayers, with the aim of receiving our desires from God. Jesus Christ should be preached and taught in the Church as the main subject. The knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ produces the ever-increasing fruit of character in believers.
1. Pray that you will have a personal revelation of Jesus Christ.
2. Pray also for the desire to get closer to the Holy Ghost.
