Topic: COUNT IT ALL JOY
James 1:2-3 (KJV)
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
To the natural man, it doesn’t make sense when we choose to rejoice in spite of our trials and temptations. The response of the natural man to an unpleasant experience is sorrow and discouragement, but we’re admonished to count it ALL joy; not SOME joy, but ALL JOY when we go through various temptations.
How hard it is for the believer who lives by his senses to do this! But glory be to God, we were even given the reason why we should count it all joy when we go through various temptations.
The next verse says, “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works or produces patience (James 1:3). Hallelujah! Do you know this, that whenever your faith is tried, it is essentially to produce patience? Faith does not work alone!
Faith works by love, and faith works together with patience if we’re to inherit God’s promises. So, without the trial of our faith to produce patience, we’re essentially forfeiting the promises of God.
You’ve got to understand the mathematics of God: No trial of faith = no promise fulfilled.
On the other hand,
Faith + Trial = Patience; and since Faith + Patience = Inheritance of God’s promises, then we can count it all joy when we go through various trials. Hallelujah!
