Theme: The Anointing

Topic: Empowering Factors - Relationship

Scripture Reading:
2 Kings 4:8-10

Main Text:
2 Chronicles 20:20
“…Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”

The Shunammite woman had a spiritual and godly relationship with the prophet Elisha. She started her spiritual journey with the man of God by perceiving his identity. She “knew” and “recognised” him through careful observation to be a holy man of God.

The spiritually sensitive woman led her family to build a fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship with the prophet.

The relationship between the prophet Elisha and the Shunammite woman was so strong that when he saw her riding towards him from afar he recognised her instantly (2 Kings 4:25).

It was Elisha who located the Shunammite woman not Gehazi. Early on, the woman “perceived” Elisha’s identity and later Elisha also recognised her.

There was a relationship between Elisha and the woman which was likely to be deeper than that which existed between Gehazi and the woman.

Elisha knew the woman spiritually whereas for Gehazi everything was likely to be in the flesh. Gehazi enjoyed some amount of friendship with the woman’s family but probably, the relationship did not have spiritual depths.

Relationships which have spiritual roots produce results. Superficial relationships cannot withstand the challenges of our time.

We cannot locate one another’s needs and pray for ourselves effectively until we know one another deeply enough to sense the needs in others’ lives even if they don’t utter a word. We must not wait to be told everything before we act.

Pray that you develop a deep spiritual relationship with your man/woman of God, your friends, and brethren in the Lord.
