Theme: The Anointing

Topic: The Laying on of Hands

Scripture Reading:
Luke 4:38-41

Main Text:
Mark 16:18c
“….; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

The laying on of hands is one proven way of contacting the anointing. Jesus Christ commonly touched people to heal them and cast out devils thereby setting an example for us. The results of this mode of ministration were so phenomenal that He obtained hundred per cent healing and deliverance.

The early apostles used the means of the laying on of hands to transfer the anointing into the lives of others. Laying on of hands was how the apostles empowered Barnabas and Paul for the work of the ministry (Acts 13:1-3).

The apostle Paul admonished Timothy not to neglect the gift that was given to him by prophecy with the laying on of hands of the presbytery. The laying on of hands is a common means of imparting the gifts of the Holy Ghost to believers (1 Timothy 4:14).

Laying on of hands is crucial for ministry. Moses imparted the spirit of wisdom and leadership to Joshua through the medium of the laying on of hands (Deuteronomy 34:9). People with a greater unction may have to lay hands on you before you engage in spiritual activities. The anointing resides in and upon people and it is transferable.

Pray that you shall lay your hands on the sick and they shall recover.
