Topic: A GIFT FOR PERSONAL EDIFICATION
1 Corinthians 14:4 (KJV)
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
You cannot give what you do not have. This is an indisputable principle in all spheres of life. For that matter, life in the Spirit is no exception.
All the spiritual gifts apart from the gift of speaking in other tongues, are for the edification of others. The gift of speaking in other tongues is for personal edification. It is the only gift that can be exercised at will, because it is for your personal use, for personal edification.
To edify means, “To build up!” We cannot presume to be used of God to build others up if we ourselves are not edified in the first place; that’s what I meant by you cannot give what you do not have. Or else, you’ll suffer burnout.
God is raising an End-Time Army of Tongue-Talkers who will know how to use the gift of speaking in tongues for their personal edification; and when such people gather together in church or fellowship meetings, there’ll always be a revival because everybody will be “on fire” and will come prepared.
I see this happening from 2019 onwards and I’m glad you’re a part of that army!
