A CALL TO MEDITATE: CARRY YOUR FRIENDS ALONG!!
2 Timothy 2:2
"And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."
One great 'secret' of success is simply that: You cannot succeed alone!
You need the help of others to get you to the top.
Even Jesus(God incarnate) had 12 disciples with whom He walked and these men spread His Gospel after His death.
The Gospel may never have reached many nations if Jesus had decided to do everything on his own without discipling others.
No man was created to mature on his own or build up himself in obscurity.
Make an attempt to befriend others; do your best to help them even as you expect them to help you.
Out of the many friends you may have, pick out the strategic ones who can help you become better and draw closer to them.
Take them along with you on your 'spiritual journey' of growth.
Share the new stuff you discover with them even as you grow in Christ.
Solomon aptly captures the power of concerted effort in Eccl. 4:9-12,
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward from their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up...Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken...".
Carrying others along in your spiritual growth is for your own good!!
From the verses above, we realise that by concerted effort:
1. You will achieve more spiritually (Matt. 18:19-20).
2. You are more likely to be successful in every endeavour.
3. You cannot be easily shaken by the enemy.
Although the prospect of being the most mature and powerful Christian amongst your peers is tantalizing, the reality is that such a situation is also very dangerous for you!
When you decide to grow in obscurity and fail to carry your closest pals along, these friends subsequently become 'spiritual leeches' that drain you out with time because they lack your knowledge.
Paul knew this very fact and thus advised Timothy to share his knowledge with others around him.
Timothy had to carry faithful men along with him as he grew in Christ; in turn, these men were supposed to teach more people, thus bringing many more to maturity in Christ.
In the same vein, I ask you today:
Who are you carrying along in your spiritual journey?
Have a blessed weekend🙏🏽
