Topic: ENJOY REST AND BE REFRESHED
Isaiah 28:11-12 (KJV)
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
We discovered from our theme Scripture yesterday, that, speaking in tongues is a mocking language. But the verse 12 of this theme Scripture reveals the wisdom of God, that, while others are mocking you for speaking in tongues, you receive rest and get refreshed.
First Corinthians 1:25 (KJV) says, “...the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” Did you see that? Whereas man in his natural thinking considers speaking in tongues as foolishness, the foolishness of God is wiser than men! In the midst of that seeming foolishness of speaking in tongues, the Spirit of God through Prophet Isaiah says, “This is THE REST with which you may cause the weary to rest; and this is THE REFRESHING...” Unfortunately, the Spirit of God predicted through Prophet Isaiah, that “...yet they will not hear.” I pray you’ll hear!
Notice the definite article used before “rest” and “refreshing.” God hasn’t offered the world many alternatives to finding rest and getting refreshed; there’s only one rest to the soul, and this can ONLY be found in Christ Jesus!
When Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, KJV), this was the rest He was referring to. It is only in Christ Jesus that one can receive the Holy Spirit; and once you engage the help of the Holy Spirit through constant and continuous communion with Him, you’ll enjoy true rest and be refreshed in your soul. What a mega provision we have in Jesus!
