Acts 20:24;
"But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God..."

Dearly beloved,
Would it not be a great joy to complete your God-given purpose here on earth?
Indeed, that would be a visa to an eternity of bliss where you enjoy the rewards of your service in the kingdom.

The words in our theme verse reveal Paul's dogged determination towards fulfilling his purpose.
A few lessons can be gleaned from this in relation fulfilling our God-given purposes:

Firstly, Life is a race; but not against other humans as many people erroneously assume.
Each of us runs an individual race but against a common opponent - Mr. TIME.
Those who beat the clock to fulfil their purpose before their time on earth is up are the very ones who will receive eternal rewards in the afterlife!
Your purpose is the reason for your existence; and its completion before you die will be the basis for your reward in eternity.
Infact, once purpose is fulfilled there's no reason to keep living - that's why Paul didn't mind dying in a bid to fulfil his purpose!!

Secondly, every single individual's purpose is determined by God, not the individual himself or herself.
Just as Paul received his purpose from the Lord Jesus, you can only receive your purpose from God and not outside Him.
Papa God is more than willing to reveal this to you if you ask Him.
He might not appear in a dream to announce it to you - but He will guide you each day to do what needs to be done by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Because each of us has a specific predetermined purpose, it's important not to copy others blindly;
This would be tantamount to running in another person's lane in the race of life - which is an outright disqualification!!!
Just as you would forfeit your salary if you did another person's job instead of that specified for you,
When it comes to purpose you would also forfeit your eternal rewards by doing exactly what others are doing without seeking God's face first.
To build the needed conviction, resilience and momentum to fulfil your purpose you must first discover what exact role God wants you to play wherever you are; and then you must be committed to fulfilling it before your time is up!

Finally, your purpose, no matter what form it takes, would be geared towards the salvation of men.
God's ultimate will is that all men be saved and come to the knowledge {epignosis - full experiencial knowledge} of the truth (1 Tim 2:4).
He wills that all men mature into Christ (Rom. 8:29).
Thus, this salvation is all-embracing -  The salvation of the spirit (regeneration), salvation of the soul (renewal of the mind) and the ultimate salvation of the body (redemption from the limitations of the body).
So whether you are a teacher, banker, student or pastor, God's predetermined plan is that you would use that avenue to get others saved and help them mature into Christ even as you also mature into Him!

Dear one,
From an eternal perspective, all you do outside of God's Will for your life is a wasted effort!
I pray that you will discover and accomplish all He has purposed for you to do this year before it ends!
May you come to a point in this life where, like Paul, you are so convicted of your God-given purpose that you are not afraid to die in order to achieve it!!
