Theme: One Saint, One Soul
Topic: The Gospel – The Salt and Light of the World
Matthew 5:13; Romans 13:1-14
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”
Our holy lives ought to act as salt to arrest the corruption around us. Evil cannot continue to thrive when we are around. A sudden silence should fall on certain kinds of conversation when we enter the room. But it is very easy to lose our saltness, as did Lot in Sodom and the seven churches of Asia.
Our lives ought to serve also as light. Light that will show the way and provide direction to lost souls to find salvation. The spirit of man is the candle pf the Lord (Proverbs 20:27). We need to be kindled by the nature of God. Men light candles, and God will light you. Let us burn and shine as John did (John 5:35).
We stated in our last study that the world is stinking dead. However, as bearers of the Gospel, we cannot join the world in its stench. In the midst of this perverse and crooked generation, we are expected to shine as light (Philippians 2:15-16).
Pray that you will not lose your saltiness, your effect, influence and godly character.
