BEFORE YOU SAY, “I DO” BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

31st January, 2019
IPR DAILY DEVOTION
Topic: BEFORE YOU SAY, “I DO”
THEME SCRIPTURE:Hebrews 13:4 (KJV)Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
MESSAGE:The marriage institution is the most complex and intricate human institution, and yet, it is the number one single institution many people enter presumptuously, with little or no knowledge about its purpose. Where purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. This accounts for the heartbreaks and disappointments in many marriages.
With the insights gained throughout this month on marriage, prospective married couples should not enter into marriage unadvisedly. Marriage is not fun and games; it is serious business. Marriage is responsibility. Marriage will require that you make some sacrifices for the benefit of your spouse. The best marriage is when you have two people doing everything in their power to make the other person happy.
There are some things you must know before you say, …

SERVE GOD WITH YOUR TALENT BY PROPHET NANSEI OPOKU-SARKODIE

The Potters GUIDEProphet Nanasei Opoku- Sarkodie
THURSDAY JANUARY 31
SERVE GOD WITH YOUR TALENT
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering:  or he that teaches, on teaching.                              ROMANS 12:6-7
Every talent and training you have, if it does not benefit the church, it has no generational blessing. Find something in the house of God and do, because you can be in church and not be in function. Every department in church renders service unto God. The ushers you see in church are serving God; cleaners in the church are also serving God, the drummer in Church is servicing God with his talent. When you go to heaven, you are not going to account to God about what you did for man, but what you did for Him. I was trained as a building technologist; I have certificates in quantity surveying, but I have put them aside, and I`m now preac…

Surely, Goodness and Mercy Shall Follow Me By Rev Eastwood Anaba

THE WORD SIROCCO
Thursday, January 31, 2019Theme: The Great ShepherdTopic: Surely, Goodness and Mercy Shall Follow MeScripture Reading:
Luke 4:18-19; Psalm 23:1-6Main Text:
Psalms 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.Goodness refers to all the good things, which come from God – forgiveness of sin, peace, joy, health, wealth and prosperity. We receive the goodness of God as we practise His Word and walk in obedience. In the event of slip-ups however, we can rely on His mercy. God has pity on us even when we don’t deserve it. Every good gift comes from the Father of lights. A good pastor teaches his or her congregation to live in the expectation of good things from the Father (James 1:16-17).Goodness and mercy following us is not the challenge of many Christians, rather accepting that goodness and mercy will “surely” follow us, and follow us all the days of our lives. But God says goodness and mercy shal…

LOVE OR INFATUATION? BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

30th January, 2019

IPR DAILY DEVOTION
Topic: LOVE OR INFATUATION?
THEME SCRIPTURE:Song of Solomon 8:7 (NKJV)Many waters cannot quench love,Nor can the floods drown it.If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house,It would be utterly despised.
MESSAGE:We identified in yesterday’s devotion, that, the chemistry or affinity between prospective married couples must be love and not infatuation. Not knowing the difference between love and infatuation can be misleading; this has been the number one reason why people have made, and others are still making the wrong choice of a marriage partner.
To infatuate is to inspire with a foolish or extravagant love or admiration, devoid of sound judgement. When one claims he/she is strongly in love with a person, but the other person completely feels the opposite, chances are that, the one claiming to be in love may be infatuating. Infatuation is often one-sided; only one person claims he/she is in love and feels the chemistry; the other person h…

DON’T FORGET HIS PRAISE BY PROPHET NANSEI OPOKU-SARKODIE

The Potters GUIDEProphet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 30
DON’T FORGET HIS PRAISE
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.                PSALMS 103:1
David always sang a song of praise to God to a point where he could say, "Bless the Lord oh, my soul." His praises graduated to a level where even if his mouth did not bless God, his soul would do it. “…. And all that is within me, bless his holy name”. He even went ahead to add all his internal organs. Maybe the reason you are going through all kinds of sicknesses is that the organs inside you are not blessing the lord. Praise relates to Gods greatness.Praise is the supernatural environment where God lives.
Today, I can suggest to you that it will be to your own advantage if you will praise God, but if you decide not to praise Him, He can cause stones to praise Him. Is it a wise thing for us to be here, and allow stones to praise God? God is not putting pressure on us to praise him thou…

FAMILIARITY BY BISHOP DAG HEWARD-MILLS

FAMILIARITY
30th January 2019
READ: 2 Samuel 6:12-23
“But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” - Mark 6:4
Michal suffered from familiarity toward her husband. She paid for it dearly - through barrenness.
Here are seven things everyone should know about familiarity.
1. “Familiarity” means “to know someone or something very well and in such a way as to cause you to lose your admiration, respect and sense of awe.” It also connotes a sense of becoming presumptuous, where a person is too confident in a way that shows a lack of respect.
2. Familiarity was the cause of Michal’s barrenness.
3. Familiarity is still the cause of spiritual barrenness in Christians today.
4. Familiarity is the greatest hindrance to receiving God’s power from God’s men.
5. No matter how great the gift of God, it is neutralized by familiarity. Jesus was the greatest healer and teacher, yet His anointing was neutralized by the presence of …

Wednesday, January 30, 2019Theme: The Great ShepherdTopic: My Cup Runneth OverScripture Reading:
Luke 4:18-19; Psalm 23:1-6; John 6:10-13Main Text:
Psalms 23:5
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. The good Shepherd ensures that there is more than enough wine at the  banquet – cups overflow. Jesus Christ said He  came  to give  us  abundant life (John 10:10). He  does not  give  life and blessing sparingly.  Abundant life is life,  which is spiritually and eternally satisfying. This kind of life  has the forgiveness of sins and the fullness of the Holy Ghost. It does not end on earth but runs over into eternity. The wine of the  Holy Ghost in the  form of the  infilling of the  Spirit and the  manifestation of the  gifts of the Holy Ghost must overflow in the  Church. In terms of finances  and  physical  blessings,  a  pastor  should  discard the scarcity mentality.  Jesus Christ multiplied …

THANKSGIVING BY PROPHET NANSEI OPOKU-SARKODIE

The Potters GUIDEProphet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie
TUESDAY JANUARY 29
THANKSGIVING
For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many increase to the glory of God.                                                   2 CORINTHIANS 4:15
One of the easiest way to get God`s attention is through thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is an attitude of appreciation and gratitude to God. Who told you God is not conscious of thanksgiving? One day Jesus Christ healed ten lepers and only one of them came back to thank him. Jesus replied to him, "Were there not ten that was healed, where are the rest of the nine? Jesus said to the man, "Because you have done this, you are made whole." (Luke 17:11-19)
This means that the miracles God gives to us are not complete until we do one thing (Thanksgiving). He can do a miracle for you, and leave about twenty percent. I checked the Greek Bible and discovered in one of the commentaries that when you are healed of lep…

Responsibility for Creating Still Waters By Rev Eastwood Anaba

Tuesday, January 29, 2019Theme: The Great ShepherdTopic: Responsibility for Creating Still WatersScripture Reading:
Luke 4:18-19; Psalm 23:1-6; John 14:26-27Main Text:
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.I will tell you a true story: Several years ago, when I was the chairman of the International Presbytery of our ministry, the Fountain Gate Chapel, I noticed deep divisions among the pastors throughout the country. I tried to resolve the issues by blaming the pastors for the widespread confusion among us. After a while, I was convicted one day during my prayer time to take responsibility for what was going on. I realised that the partiality I showed in my relationship with the pastors was partly responsible for the divisions. I repented and started relating with the pastors whom I thought did not agree with me on various issues. After taking respon…

CHOOSING THE RIGHT MARRIAGE PARTNER BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

29th January, 2019

IPR DAILY DEVOTION
Topic: CHOOSING THE RIGHT MARRIAGE PARTNER
THEME SCRIPTURE:1 Corinthians 7:39 (NKJV)A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.
MESSAGE:Having gained some insights into marriage, it’s appropriate we lay the right foundation for prospective married couples, as well as those who will guide prospective married couples to choose the right marriage partner.
Our theme Scripture gives a clue as to what constitutes the number one criteria in choosing the right marriage partner. Though the Scripture refers to widows who desire to remarry, the principle applies to both men and women who are yet to marry. The phrase, “... she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord” is informative and very revealing. It means a believer is at liberty to marry whoever he/she wishes, on condition that the prospective spouse is in Christ. Marrying someo…

ACTIVITY BY BISHOP DAG HEWARD-MILLS

ACTIVITY
28th January 2019
READ: 1 Corinthians 1:17-25
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness.” - Matthew 9:35
I have often wondered what God would do if He became a man.
There are so many problems in the world and not enough solutions. But God did become a man.
What activities did Christ engage Himself in during His brief stay on earth. We can find out by reading the four Gospels. Matthew 9:35 shows us that God’s main activities while on earth were preaching, teaching and healing. These three activities must have been the most beneficial to the human race. We can safely conclude that the most important and highest form of assistance given to any community on this earth must be preaching, teaching and healing. Certainly, none of us would purport to be wiser or kinder than God?
God is raising an army of preachers and teachers who will do His will. The Church has done more good to this…

IS THERE A HOME IN THE HOUSE? BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

28th January, 2019

IPR DAILY DEVOTION
Topic: IS THERE A HOME IN THE HOUSE?
THEME SCRIPTURE:1 Timothy 5:14 (KJV)I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
MESSAGE:When I was about 11years old, I read a gospel tract, titled, “Is there a home in the house?” Although I didn’t know much at that young age, I knew from that gospel tract, that, one could have a house, and may not have a home in the house.
A home is the social unit formed by a family living together. When one has been battered by the storms of life after a hard day’s work, there’s no better place to run to than home, to find rest and comfort. A home is the place of life and energy; it is the place one resorts to and gets refreshed. But when a husband and wife have become independent of each other, instead of being interdependent, and there’s virtually no communication, can we say there’s a home in the house?
From our theme Scripture, Ap…

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.Fulfilling the purpose of the preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and healing the broken-hearted is all about shepherding. That is why Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd and the Chief Shepherd with believers as the undershepherds. We must make the souls that come to Christ lie in green pastures and lead them beside still waters.“Still waters" are, literally, "waters of stillness", whose quiet flow invites to repose. They are contrasted with boisterous streams on the one hand, and stagnant, offensive pools on the other. The world is a troubled place. It exudes lots of offensive news and events daily. Our churches, businesses and homes should be places people can run in to hide away from the troubles of t…

Ministry of the Church By Rev Eastwood Anaba

THE WORD SIROCCO
Sunday, January 27, 2019Theme: The Great ShepherdTopic: Ministry of the ChurchScripture Reading:
Luke 4:18-19; Psalm 23:1-6; John 10:11-14Main Text:
Psalm 23:1
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.As the church begins to grow and receive more flock, their spiritual needs begin to grow as well. It is not wrong for church members to visit other churches or go to pastors outside their local churches for support and assistance. It is however, spiritually wrong for members of a church to go to places they know their pastor has reservations about. The Church is blessed with spiritual offices (Ephesians 4:8-16) and gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-12; Romans 12:4-8) for ministry and to be a blessing to the flock. The local church must also grow in grace to be complete in these areas of spiritual gifts.

A pastor may not have all the spiritual gifts and abilities to minister to his or her flock in all things. He or she must however, be able to raise other leaders and pastors in t…

CAN A HUSBAND’S PRAYERS BE HINDERED? BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

27th January, 2019

IPR DAILY DEVOTION
Topic: CAN A HUSBAND’S PRAYERS BE HINDERED?
THEME: 1 Peter 3:7 (KJV)Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
MESSAGE:After Apostle Peter had admonished husbands to dwell with their wives according to knowledge; after he had cautioned husbands to handle their wives with care; after he had revealed that both husband and wife are joint-heirs of the grace of life; the last line of our theme Scripture encourages the husband to do all these things so that his prayers are not hindered.
The question is, can a husband’s prayers be hindered? The Greek word translated “hindered” also means, “To cut off occasion” or “To frustrate.” This is very revealing! When the occasion for you to pray is cut off, it means you cannot pray. How can you pray when you’re facing some frustrating moments at home? Apostle…

CRITICISM BY BISHOP DAG HEWARD-MILLS

CRITICISM
27th January 2019
READ: Luke 23:7-10
“But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time…with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” - Mark 10:30
Jesus did not answer His critics. He responded to the hunger and thirst of the multitudes and not to the hatred of His enemies.
Criticism is part of the ministry. There is nothing like ministry without criticism. Jesus was perfect. If He was criticized, accused and murdered what do you think will happen to someone like you who is not perfect? It is not possible to minister without accusation. It is part of the package. Jesus promised rewards with persecution.
Critical people are often frustrated people who have failed in life.Frustration creates bitterness. Bitterness is made manifest by criticism.
Criticism seems to be a symptom of many other evils stored within an individual. It is people who are defiled and unbelieving who see impurities in everything Titus 1:15).
Nevertheless, you can learn something from your critics.…

BE COURAGEOUS By Prophet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie

SATURDAY JANUARY 26
BE COURAGEOUS
Have not I commanded you?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed:  for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
JOSHUA 1:9
Courage was the weapon God gave to Joshua to take his people to the Promised Land. He said, "Be strong and courageous". Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is pressing forward even in the midst of fear. Maybe you don't know how your business is going to go, but you are attempting it all right; everyone is afraid for you but you are still pressing forward. God repeated this, He said, "Have I not told you that be strong and courageous?" The strength here is not physical strength but inner tenacity. That is why for sickness to even to overtake you, it will depend on your inner strength.
Maybe the reason you are afraid is that your inner man is very weak. The Bible says, "If your strength fails in the da…

Psalm 23:1
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.As mentioned in yesterday's devotional, the purpose of the Spirit of the Lord upon Jesus Christ was to preach the Gospel and deliver the oppressed. He saved and delivered the oppressed holistically as the Great Shepherd. Our purpose, as believers, is not just to lead people to Christ but to be their shepherds in the complete sense of the word – seek their physical and spiritual wellbeing. We must be good shepherds.“The LORD is MY SHEPHERD.” This is possessive and emphatic. The flock is not in doubt about who their shepherd is. They “own” the Shepherd and He “owns” them. The shepherd belongs to the flock and the flock belong to him or her. The commitment of their pastor to them is expected to be one hundred per cent. They depend on the pastor for most of their spiri…

SCIENCE BY BISHOP DAG HEWARD-MILLS

SCIENCE
26th January 2019
READ: Romans 1:18-32
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind…” - Romans 1:28
Education and science are not contrary to spiritual things. At the bottom of it all we believe that it is God who works things out.
In the study of religion a theory known as the “Gaps Theory” was put forth. In this theory whenever there was a lack (a gap) of a human explanation to something, the theory of the existence of God was used as the explanation. However, when there were more scientific discoveries to explain that phenomenon, the concept of God was removed.
For instance, when men did not understand the principles of vaporation and conversion, the phenomenon of rain was always ascribed to God’s mercy. But when science discovered how rain is brought about, God was eliminated from that gap. Gradually, almost all the gaps have been filled and that is why many people do not believe in God any more.
Your education should no…

HUSBAND AND WIFE ARE JOINT-HEIRS BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

26th January, 2019

IPR DAILY DEVOTION
Topic: HUSBAND AND WIFE ARE JOINT-HEIRS
THEME SCRIPTURE:1 Peter 3:7 (KJV)Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
MESSAGE:From our theme Scripture, the third instruction is for a husband to treat his wife as being heirs together of the grace of life. The phrase, “heirs together” means, “joint-heirs.” A husband and his wife are joint-heirs of the grace of life. Meaning, both husband and wife have equal grace to eternal life and salvation. One is not better than the other.
Bear in mind, we’re dealing with married couples in Christ Jesus. All our teachings on marriage so far, have got nothing to do with beliefs and practices outside of Christ. Hence, the instruction of Apostle Peter, is for husbands to recognize that there’s no difference between the husband and his wife when it comes to the …

DON’T PERMIT THE DEVIL By Prophet Nanasei Opoku- Sarkodie

The Potters GUIDEProphet Nanasei Opoku- Sarkodie
FRIDAY JANUARY 25
DON’T PERMIT THE DEVIL
Behold, I stand at the door and knock:  if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me.
REVELATION 3:20
Jesus said, “I stand at the door and knock; if any man hears my voice…” How can someone knock at your door and still say if you hear my voice? It means that Jesus doesn’t knock with His hands; He knocks with His voice. He continues to say, “If any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in….” So, if this is the principle Jesus works with, that he does not force Himself on you but has to knock and wait for you to open the door before he enters, then it means the devil cannot also force himself on you unless you permit him.
One time, I asked the Lord this question, why is the devil even in our life? He said, "We permitted him ourselves . I want to ask you this question, if God decides to drive all the enemies in you…

READ: Matthew 16:16-23
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” - 2 Corinthians 5:21
It seems that it is possible for demons to invade an individual and somehow be compatible with his spirituality.  I asked myself, “How can these two extreme forces be compatible?” How can a man with a legion of  demons worship God? The man with a legion of demons was a worshipper of Christ Jesus.
This phenomenon explains how many Christians go to church every Sunday, and yet have evil spirits influencing them at home and at work.
The man in the synagogue was another worshipper who had a demon. The demon was exposed as the preaching came forth. “And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth?” (Mark 1:23-24).
As you can see, churchgoers and worshippers may have evil spirits in them. The Apostle Peter w…

HANDLE YOUR WIFE WITH CARE BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

THEME SCRIPTURE:1 Peter 3:7 (KJV)Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
MESSAGE:From our theme Scripture, the second instruction is for a husband to give honour to his wife, as unto a weaker vessel. Apostle Peter likens the female gender to a weaker vessel. A weaker vessel is that which is fragile and delicate; that which can easily break if not handled with care.
The way fragile and delicate items such as a set of glass is handled, is different from the way robust items such as a set of plastic cups is handled. If we’re to transport a set of glass and a set of plastic cups together, we will package the set of glass with all the necessary cushioning so as to avoid breakages. YOU ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD By Prophet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie

The Potters GUIDE Prophet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie
THURSDAY JANUARY 24
YOU ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 JOHN 2:15
When God asked Moses to lead His children from Egypt to the Promised Land, He succeeded in taking them out of Egypt but did not succeed in taking Egypt out of them. This is how we can know that God did not take Egypt out of them: any little challenge they faced, and they want to go back to Egypt. They were eating angelic food that could not make them fall sick, and yet still they were talking about garlic and cucumber they use to eat in Egypt. You can never get to your Canaan until you walk out of Egypt.
This is why people can be in church and still have a worldly lifestyle. It doesn`t mean that they are not born-again; God has succeeded in taking them out of the world but He has not taken the wor…

OFFENCES
24th January 2019
READ: 2 Samuel 13:1-28
“And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.” - Matthew 24:10
I believe that Absalom was grievously hurt by two important events. First of  all,  his half-brother’s rape of his sister. He probably decided to kill his brother from the very day it happened.
Secondly, his father King David did not take the appropriate action against Amnon for raping Tamar. The Bible says King David was very angry with Amnon. However, he was under obligation to do more than just being angry. If he had done his duty, he would have fulfilled the Law of Moses (Leviticus 20:17).
The penalty for incest in those days was death. But David failed to implement it.
Dear leader, look around you and observe those who have been wounded by one event or another. If these people have not genuinely overcome their hurts, hear the voice of the Spirit today. They are potential separatists, and they can easily become your enemies.

DWELL WITH YOUR WIFE ACCORDING TO KNOWLEDGE BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

THEME SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 3:7 (KJV)Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
MESSAGE:The word, “Likewise” in our theme Scripture means, “Equally” or “In the same way.” God is no respecter of persons; He equally addressed husbands after He had finished addressing wives. The first instruction is for husbands to dwell with their wives according to knowledge.
The Greek word translated “knowledge” in this verse is “gnosis.” Gnosis is “scientific knowledge.” That means God wants husbands to know the scientific facts about the female gender. Remember, marriage is a covenant relationship between a man and a WOMAN. It’s the woman who becomes a wife at marriage. There are general scientific facts about women; husbands are instructed by Scripture to kn…

Topic: PRIORITIZE INNER BEAUTY
THEME SCRIPTURE:1 Peter 3:3-4 (NKJV)[3] Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— [4] rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
MESSAGE:We said in our previous devotion, that, a wife can win a disobedient husband by her reverence for him, but admittedly, there are wives who have obeyed God’s Word by submitting to their husbands with all reverence, yet, were maltreated by their husbands, while some even went through painful divorce. Such is the paradox of life! Wives who have suffered unjustly despite their submission, can commit everything to God who judges righteously. At least, they did their part; and God, who is faithful, will reward both wife and husband, according to each person’s deeds.
From our theme Scripture, we see how Apostle Peter admo…

KNOW CHRIST FOR YOURSELF By Prophet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie

The Potters GUIDEProphet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie
 WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23
KNOW CHRIST FOR YOURSELF
And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi:  and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, who do men say that I am?         MARK 8:27
There are people in the church today who only know about God but they don't know God. All they know about God is even based on other people’s opinion about God.  When Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do men say I am?” The disciples in response said, "Some say you are Elijah" others also said, "You are Jeremiah". I checked one time to find out why Jesus was often referred to as the Elijah by some people, and I discovered that there were some similarities between the miracles Jesus did and that of Elijah. For instance, Jesus controlled nature- he walked on the sea (Matt. 14:22-33) and He also rebuked the wind (Mark 4:39). Elijah also controlled nature- he could stop rain from falling for three and ha…

HELP FROM THE HILLS BY BISHOP DAG HEWARD-MILLS

HELP FROM THE HILLS
23rd January 2019
READ: Psalm 121
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord…” - Psalm 121:1-2
If God does not help us, no one will. I want to show you how much we need God’s help in our lives.
And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king. And he said, If the Lord do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress? And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son that we may eat him today and we will eat my son tomorrow. So we boiled my son and did eat him: and I said unto her the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son. - 2 Kings 6:26-29
This is one of the saddest stories in the Bible. A woman entered into a contract with her neighbour that they would eat her neighbour’s son after they had eaten up hers. After she had choppe…

Executing the Great Commission By Rev Eastwood Anaba

THE WORD SIROCCO
Wednesday, January 23, 2019Theme : The Great ShepherdTopic : Executing the Great CommissionScripture Reading:
Matthew 16:16 -19Main Text:
Matthew 16:19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.Jesus Christ declared His commitment to build His Church. His emphatic declaration means that it is not man’s responsibility to build the Church. God uses men and women to build the Church but they are not the force behind it. The Church is fortified against the gates of hell. In His disclosure of how He would build His Church, the Lord made it obvious that the gates of hell will assault the Church but in vain (Matthew 16:18).Jesus Christ gave Peter and the disciples the keys of the Kingdom of heaven. From the beginning of the New Testament Church, we have been adequately equipped and empowered to precipitate the will of God on ea…

WINNING A DISOBEDIENT HUSBAND BY SAMUEL EXCELLENCE

22nd January, 2019

IPR DAILY DEVOTION
Topic: WINNING A DISOBEDIENT HUSBAND
THEME SCRIPTURE:1 Peter 3:1-2 (NKJV)[1] Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, [2] when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.
MESSAGE: Just like Apostle Paul did in Ephesians 5:22-33, Apostle Peter also addressed married couples in 1 Peter 3:1-7, by addressing wives before husbands. On a lighter note, it seems even Scripture agrees with the concept of “Ladies First.”
The Holy Spirit, through Apostle Peter, instructs wives to be submissive to their own husbands, just like He did, through Apostle Paul. But Apostle Peter throws more light on what it means for a wife to be submissive to her husband. He tells wives, that even if some husbands do not obey the Word, without saying a word, they can win their husbands by their conduct.
Someone who doesn’t obey the Word is not necessarily an …
