Theme : Purpose
Topic : The Gift of Long Life
So Job died, being old and full of days.
Life is a gift from God, and every life has a purpose tied to it. Nobody was brought into this world by God to merely pass through and exit without fulfilling purpose. Jesus Christ declared, among other declarations regarding His purpose, that the Spirit of the Lord has anointed Him to preach the Gospel to the poor, heal the broken-hearted, preach deliverance to the captives, recover sight to the blind, set at liberty them that are bruised, and preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18-19). God told Jeremiah He had called and ordained him to be a prophet to the nations (Jeremiah 1:5). So is it that God has called and ordained you with a purpose in ministry, business, family life, etc.
If you will fulfil your purpose in life, you will need to have enough “life” to accomplish that purpose. Jesus Christ accomplished His purpose in 33 years. Job had a purpose – being eyes to the blind, feet to the lame, etc (Job 29:15). His purpose was seemingly paused during his crises, but when God turned his captivity, He blessed him with long life which gave him room to fulfil his purpose and impact lives.
Life is a blessing, and long life is more blessing. You may look at the amount of your vision yet to be accomplished and feel discouraged, but I have good news for you. There is a gift of God – long life – which will give you room to finish your course. God will satisfy you with long life (Psalm 91:16). Job did not receive a long life of prolonged crises, he received a satisfying long life. You will not merely live long, but you will enjoy your life.
1. Pray that God will bless you with long life.
2. Pray also that God will grant you the grace to live your long life in satisfaction.
