1 Corinthians 12:8-10
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
Solid churches encourage the exercising of spiritual gifts. God equips believers with these gifts to enable them minister to one another. The purpose of the gifts of the Spirit is to minister to the Body of Christ and the world.
The gifts of the Spirit are the means through which the needs of the Church and the world are met. They are the weapons with which the Church subdues satan and his kingdom. The gifts of the Spirit build our patience, self-control, joy, peace and other virtues because they make it easy for us to trust God. The gifts of the Holy Ghost also impart healing and deliverance to believers.
Signs and wonders demonstrate the power of God to the world and bring sinners to repentance and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. A solid church abounds in the gifts of the Spirit. The manifestation of the Spirit is for our profit (1 Corinthians 12:7). As we enjoy the benefits of the Spirit however, we should be mindful that the Bible warns us against quenching the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19).
1. Pray that you will enjoy the benefits of the Gifts of the Spirit.
2. Pray also that God will use you to cause others to enjoy the benefits of the Gifts of the Spirit.
