(Continue to Show Kindness)

"Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph."

Exodus 1:8

This is an account of how the slavery of the Jews in Egypt began. Bible scholars believe that this new king came unto the scene about 60 years after Joseph had died. How come then that this new king knew nothing about Joseph and how he had saved Egypt from starvation during the famine?

The scriptures depict that the famine during this period was so severe that people came from all over to buy grain from Egypt. Therefore this piece of history is not one that should have easily been forgotten. I believe this new Pharoah chose to ignore and discount Joseph's impact and influence, just so he could oppress the Israelites whom he considered strangers.

It is a principle of life that one good turn deserves another; however, more often that not, people tend to forget the kindness shown them. Even some believers err on this.

There are two lessons I want us to consider today:

1. Never forget any act of kindness shown you, even if it is something as small as a smile when you needed it most.

Proverbs 3:3 says "Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart." (NLT)

2. Never be weary of doing good just because people are ungrateful.

Royalhouse has a scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy students and thousands of students have benefited from this scheme from the primary to the tertiary level. It would be unfair for me to say that just because a few people didn't show gratitude after we paid their fees, we are going to cancel the scheme. Imagine the thousands of other beneficiaries who would be disadvantaged.

My dear, continue doing good and showing kindness because your day of reward is surely coming.

Stay blessed. I love you!
