Topic: JESUS IS READY
2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
God is not a man, that, He should lie; He is neither the son of man to change His Mind concerning His promise. What He has promised, He is well able to do it; and He will do it! Hallelujah!
Our theme Scripture is a reference to the promise Jesus gave, that He will come again and receive us unto Himself, after going to prepare a place for us, so that we may be where He is (John 14:1-3). It was in that same Century that Apostle Peter wrote this Scripture, meaning, it wasn’t even up to 100years, and yet, some people had already concluded that the Lord was slack concerning His promise. Obviously, after 2000years, some uninformed people living in the 21st Century will most likely draw the same conclusion, that the Lord is slack concerning His promise.
To be slack, is to take a pace characterized by slowness, sluggishness, or lack of energy. To say that the Lord is slack concerning His promise, is to give the impression that He lacks the enthusiasm to fulfil His promise, as though Jesus is no longer interested in coming for His Church. But that is not the case at all! On the contrary, our theme Scripture reveals that the seeming lack of enthusiasm on the Lord’s part to fulfil His promise, is because He is longsuffering toward us; God has great tolerance and forbearance. Majority of people in the world have rejected God’s free offer of salvation, but He patiently endures , not willing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Never take the longsuffering of our Lord Jesus for granted; He doesn’t want His vicarious sacrifice to be in vain; He doesn’t wish that anyone would suffer for his/her own sins after He has fully payed for the sins of all humankind. If it took God only 6days to create the whole universe, do you think the Lord is still preparing a place for us after 2000years? He finished the very moment He spoke it. When God speaks, it becomes; He calls the things which are not, as though they were (Romans 4:17). Hebrews 11:3 (KJV) says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
Jesus is ready a long time ago, and our place in heaven is already prepared. Are you ready to meet Him in the air?
