Theme: Grow Up
Topic: No More Children
1 Corinthians 13:8-11; Ephesians 4:10-16
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
We cannot fulfil the purpose of the Great Commission if we, as the Body of Christ, remain children. We must determine to be NO MORE CHILDREN. The term, “grow up” means enlarge, give the increase. Growing up is the process by which the Body of Christ increases in wisdom, strength, holiness, power and grace.
The word, “children” in Ephesians 4:14 means babes, childish, infant, simple-minded and immature. There is always a point in life when one must progress from childhood into maturity. Hence the Apostle Paul said "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things" (1 Corinthians 13:11). The apostle personally put away childish things - he put effort into his growth process. We cannot wish away childishness. We must intentionally grow.
The times we live in are too sophisticated for the simple-minded to survive. Childish believers must grow up quickly, and not be tossed about by doctrines, like a kite in the wind. Crafty men, illusionists, false teachers are lurking to deceive the gullible. We must mature in the Word, prayer, knowledge, character, etc to remain relevant.
Pray and ask the Holy Ghost to destroy any desire in you that has the tendency to make you not to grow beyond where you are.
