Theme: Grow Up
Topic: Reaching the Goal
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
No matter the language a church uses to outline its mission and vision, its ultimate goal should be to attain to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13). Anything other than this falls short of the ultimate goal. The general observation is that most churches don’t have Jesus as the centre of their mission. A church can only be solid if everybody in it strives towards one ultimate goal.
The effort of the Church to attain Jesus Christ’s stature should be sustained. There should be no break in our commitment to be like Christ. We must not be distracted from this goal. Anything, which draws us away from this target, should be resisted. We cannot grow weary in our effort to be like Jesus Christ. Many churches have the wrong goal in view. They have a distorted view of the future state and this has disoriented them in belief and in ministry. If we get our goal right, our actions will be right and our churches will be solid.
To attain this ultimate goal and to build solid churches the believers in the Body of Christ must grow together. God has designed the Body of Christ to grow together. Anything other than this leads to confusion and stunted growth. There is joy in growing together as a body.
Pray for yourself that the Holy Ghost will continually guide you as you seek to be like Jesus Christ.
