REBUILDING THE STATE 3
(Overcoming Opposition and Distractions)
Today we shall conclude on our discussions from Nehemiah 1&2, on how Nehemiah as an individual stirred up and led a change in rebuilding Judah from its ruins and Jerusalem from its broken walls.
“Though your beginning was insignificant, Yet your end will greatly increase."
Job 8:7 AMP
3. He started small.
Nehemiah as an individual engaged the king, authorities and leaders alone, soliciting for support, resources and endorsements to get the work done.
You can start your project for change today, irrespective of how small or insignificant your first step may seem. God will magnify your efforts.
4. He overcame opposition and distractions.
The Bible in Nehemiah 2:19 reports that when Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem, heard of Nehemiah's plans, "...they laughed at us and despised us, and said, “What is this thing that you are doing?"
Nehemiah 2:19 NKJV
Every good plan, action or initiative that eventually glorifies God, will be frought with some form of opposition. Staying focused and ignoring all forms of distractions is what sets you ahead to achieve.
So I answered them, and said to them, “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.”
Nehemiah 2:20 NKJV
May God prosper the works of your hands to His own glory. May you overcome every form of opposition as you take initiative to transform lives and impact your community, in Jesus' name. Amen!
