Topic: The Spirit of the LORD is Upon You

Scripture Reading:
Luke 4:18-19

Main Text:
Luke 4:18
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Jesus Christ declared  that the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him. He was empowered by the Holy Ghost to fulfil His mission of destroying the works of the devil. Although He is God, Jesus Christ was manifested in the flesh as a man. It was compulsory for the Holy Ghost to be upon Him as a man so that He would defeat the devil.

The Spirit of the Lord was UPON Him. The Greek word for “upon” in the above scripture reference (Luke 4:18) is 'epi', which means upon, on,  superimposition, above and have charge of. The Spirit of the Lord was on Jesus Christ – He was covered with the Holy Ghost. The Spirit of the Lord superimposed Himself on Him – the Holy Ghost outweighed His humanity. The Holy Ghost took charge of His life – the flesh did not dictate His actions.

When the Holy Ghost is upon you, He overwhelms your disabling environment, overshadows your weaknesses and overwrites your failures. Many believers are overwhelmed by their own will and strength. The Spirit of the Lord is not upon them. They try to subject the Spirit of the Lord to themselves by doing their own will and expecting the Spirit of the Lord to approve their actions. Believers allow the weaknesses of the flesh to stop them from fulfilling God’s purposes.

Prayer:
1. Pray and ask the Holy Ghost to quicken you from inside so that your life will not be dictated by the flesh but by the Spirit.
2. Pray also that the Holy Ghost will overshadow every weakness of the flesh that is a challenge to fulfilling God's purpose.

Topic: Anointed for a Purpose

Scripture Reading:
Acts 13:19-22; Genesis 1:26-28

Main Text:
Acts 13:22
22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. From yesterday's devotional, we know that Without  purpose, life  is meaningless  and  unfulfilling. It is important for you to discover the purpose for which you were created,  blessed  and  anointed, and that God definitely created you for a purpose. God  anoints  you for a purpose.  Purpose  is  the  reason for the anointing.  Without purpose the anointing is either  wasted or abused. It is needful to also note that God  anoints people for a  purpose. You are  anointed to serve God  and touch people’s lives.  A powerful anointing  produces supernatural  results in others. God  anointed King David,  a  man after His…

Without purpose, life  is meaningless and unfulfilling. It is important for you to discover the purpose for which you were created,  blessed and anointed.  Purpose is not the prerogative of  a privileged few in the world – everybody should know his or her purpose in life.God created you for a purpose. He created  Adam and Eve and gave them the divine mandate to rule the universe and make the earth productive (Genesis 1:28). The  earth has great potential but it takes human beings to …

Topic: The Seven Spirits of God
Scripture Reading:
Isaiah 11:1-2; Luke 4:1-19
Main Text:
Revelation 4:5
5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
In  Isaiah  11:1-2, the  prophet Isaiah describes the seven-fold nature of the Spirit of the LORD who would rest on the Messiah. The Holy Ghost rests upon you with His perfect nature to subdue your human nature. His seven-fold nature overwrites your human inadequacies. His nature is superior to your human nature. He is what and who you are not. He does what you cannot do and gives what you cannot give.
In the book of  Revelation, John referred to the seven Spirits of God (Revelation 4:5). There is only one Holy Ghost so the term seven Spirits of God refers to the seven-fold character of the Holy Ghost. There is one Spirit with a seven-fold characterisation. Isaiah 11…
